An Announcement

fotolia_4385318_xs.jpgSunday, March 9, 2008, is a new day.  It’s a new day that God has made, causing me to rejoice.  It’s a new day revealing the mercy and faithfulness of God.  It’s a new day for my family.

This Sunday, it will be announced that I am leaving Red Rocks Baptist Church.

I love the people and leadership of my church.  I have travelled with them in perhaps the most memorable period in their history.  It doesn’t seem like that long ago that I stood with a shovel in my hand, breaking ground on a desolate field in a western suburb of Denver.  That day, I stood next to a marker in the ground symbolizing where the pulpit would one day be located.  For the past year, I have stood behind that pulpit in a beautiful facility the Lord has built in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.  Our church has grown in so many ways over the past six years.  It will be terribly difficult to say goodbye.

Yet, the Lord has clearly directed our path, as He promises to do when we trust Him.  Over the last year or so, the Lord has implanted in my heart a desire for a teaching/preaching ministry, one that would be nearly impossible to have as an assistant pastor.

So, after 13 years of assisting godly leaders, I am stepping out by faith to pursue a senior pastorate.  I am filled with so many emotions.  This is a big deal.  Most likely, it means a major move for my family.  A new school for my children.  New friendships to make.  A new level of responsibility and accountability.  Am I ready?

With God’s help, YES, I am ready.  In fact, I am eager.  I can’t wait to see what He has prepared.  I can’t wait to meet the families whom I will have the great honor to pastor.  I can’t wait to dedicate myself to the study and preaching of God’s Word.  I look forward to leading a team of dedicated followers of Christ in 21st Century church ministry.

With all this in mind, I will be posting several articles over the next few weeks that describe my ministry philosophy and vision.  You see, churches will be “checking me out” on this site.  This is a good place for churches to see who I really am, how I think, what I believe.  I’m not afraid of the transparency that comes with Internet journaling; in fact, I welcome it.

Can I ask something of you, my readers?  Would you pray for my family?  Would you pray that God gives great discernment both to me and to churches who are looking?

What kind of church am I looking for?  I want to minister to and lead a church where my education, experience, gifts, and personality can best be used to advance the cause of the Gospel.

Thank you so much to all of you who have already given me such encouragement in this time of transition.  It is such a joy to be part of a Christian family that constantly surrounds me with great love.  I look forward to keeping you updated on this new journey and appreciate any leads any of you can send my way.

Yours and Christ’s,

Brian

I have no clue who you are, but stumbled upon your blog from the wordpress web page. I will be praying for you in this time of transition. Must be God drew me to the words “The Aftermath” So, hang in there and God will be with you as He is with us always.

    Brian,

Blessings on you and your family bro. Will be praying this week for the Pastor Heinze and the family at Red Rocks. You are signing up for a fantastic journey. There is nothing like the ministry of a pastor-teacher, a first among equals. The challenges are larger than life. The rewards are out of this universe! Call me anytime if you want to chat about “life on the other side.” 🙂

    Straight Ahead!

    Brian:

Had no idea that you were moving on. Of course when we’re out of the US I’m not up on a lot of things. I think it’s wonderful that the Lord is leading you to the pastorate and pray He will use you in a great way for His glory.
